En Madrid denominamos Pirámides a toda una zona incluida en el distrito de Arganzuela y que tiene su centro en la Glorieta de Pirámides. La glorieta recibió esa denominación de manera oficial el 28 de diciembre de 1944. Por acuerdo municipal pasó de ser «glorieta del Puente de Toledo» a la actual denominación. El nombre de Pirámides se debe a los dos monolitos erigidos en la glorieta por el arquitecto Francisco Javier de Marietegui en 1831.

Historia

El proyecto inicial era integrarlos en un eje monumental cerca de la Puerta de Toledo.
